This week marks Helen Keller’s 136th birthday, and while she may no longer be with us, she certainly left a good deal of life lessons for us to learn from.

From pool parties to desert hikes, summer is definitely everyone’s favorite time of year. But with the long days and endless sunshine summer brings, it also brings some health threats – to your eyes in particular.

There’s something to be said for aging gracefully, but there’s nothing graceful about not being able to see well – or not recognizing your own eyes when you look in the mirror.

There’s just something about the first week of March; maybe it’s the promise of spring in the air, the upcoming spring and summer vacations that make our day seem a little lighter, or the season of leprechauns and easter bunnies coming our way.

So it’s been a long day. You’re tired, hungry and perhaps the biggest giveaway of all – you’ve got an eye that’s starting to twitch. Aside from being super annoying (how can such a tiny movement cause such irritation?), your twitching eye is probably making you wonder exactly what’s wrong with you.

If you have a child who wears glasses, chances are, you’ve gotten the request (or more accurately, the begging and pleading) for contact lenses.

Got a fear of the eye doctor? Well, don’t be; even if your vision needs eye problems corrected or you have another eye issue altogether, you should know that you’re in pretty good company.
